Corona Virus Update
Thank you for your participation in our past Sunday Service via our Facebook page. It was a joy to have you participating with us, and I really enjoyed reading all of your Facebook comments and appreciated any feedback. Thanks also for hitting the share button and referring your friends and family to our service.
By now I’m sure that you are aware that Gov. Inslee has issued further restrictions re the coronavirus, whereby all of us are now to remain at home over the next few weeks. This means that we need to continue to innovate with regards to technology – I feel like I am learning a lot on the go at present 😊. Here’s what we will try to accomplish with God’s help for this coming Sunday:
A worship video-clip featuring Beau (possibly with family) leading from home, will be uploaded for Sunday onto our website here along with song lyrics.
We will upload another video-clip for my sermon, which will also be recorded from home. Sermon and slides will also be available here.
If possible, I will also upload and schedule these two video-clips (of worship and preaching) to screen onto our church Facebook page at www.facebook.com/GardinerCommunityChurch . All going well, worship will be scheduled to screen at 10am on Sunday and the preaching (as a separate video) will be scheduled to follow after that. Once these video-clips are screening on Facebook you can also watch them at any other time, simply by scrolling down our Facebook page until you find them. Our past two Sunday services are also still available for viewing on our Facebook page.
I know that all of this takes some adjustment – in the way in which we live our lives, but also with our interaction of technology. I appreciate your willingness to adapt to what is necessary. Feel free to work your way through our phone directory to phone, text or email each other with encouragement as well. We are still very much a family that belongs together.
May you know our Savior’s joy and peace this week
Blessings in Christ,
Dear Friends at GCC,
You may be aware that Governor Inslee has issued new and more restrictive guidelines which now prohibit any public gatherings of more than 50 people, and add restrictions on gatherings smaller than this, that include social distancing (of 6 feet or greater) until April 24th (and possibly longer).
In light of this, our Elders are encouraging all of our congregation to access our Sunday Services via live-streaming on Facebook (at www.facebook.com/gardinercommunitychurch). Please note that anyone can access our Facebook group, even without a Facebook account. A recording of each Sunday Service will also become available on our church website. More details to follow. If you are not able to access any of our services online, please let us know.
Although our Sunday services will be live-streamed, these services will still include the familiar elements of worship-time by singing (please sing along from home) and also the reading and preaching of the Word. Prior to Communion Sunday (the next is April 5th), we encourage you to buy your own grape-juice or red-wine, along with bread and we will share Communion virtually together.
For now, all of our small-groups will be suspended, or become virtual/on-line based on the preferences of each small-group leader – please liaise with your leader directly. The Pastoral Care class on Wednesday’s will continue online and via Skype chat.
Although our faith-family will become increasingly virtual, we do want to encourage as much community interaction as possible. We especially encourage you to engage with our church Facebook group. We also want to encourage creativity. How can we have fun as a Jesus-loving family in different ways online?! That’s your creative challenge as we move forward 😊 .
We also want to reassure you that pastoral care will be available as needed. Elders and others will be assigned different people/families to check in with each week, so that we are aware of any spiritual and physical needs or concerns that you might have. Visits for pastoral care and for communion will be available upon request.
Friends, we’re all in this together, so let’s experience some joy along the way! We acknowledge that none of this is as ideal as meeting together in person, however the apostle Paul reminds us that “ALL things work together for good” (Romans 8:28) – even in this situation. We have even witnessed this over the past 24 hours, with over 300 people viewing our Sunday Service online to date. Hence already, we have reached about 230 more people than we usually do on a Sunday. Hallelujah! May many of these folks come to know Jesus more and more in their lives! Please continue to share our Sunday Services through Facebook each week, so that we can continue to reach others in Jesus’ Name!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to either myself, or any of our Elders.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13, NIV).
Blessings in Christ,
Pastor Caleb, on behalf of our Elders
